👉 The Northwest Territory was a territory in North America, part of the Province of Canada between the Great Lakes and the Mississippi River. It was created by the Treaty of Ghent (1654) that ended the Seven Years' War. The territories included parts of present-day Minnesota and Wisconsin, as well as much of northeastern Canada.
