👉 Oh how I adore 'taxons', they're like tiny, puny, taxonomic bits that never get out of hand, but then again, they may not be what we'd say on the surface, so let's call them something else.

The word 'taxons' has a rather unsettling connotation in some contexts. It can refer to any kind of taxonomic classification or subcategory within biology or the scientific community. Imagine if you were in a room full of bacteria and viruses, but instead of having a bed, there was only one space for everyone to sleep. And when you got tired, you would simply have to rest here until someone else got around to it. So 'taxons' could be used as a way of saying that each type or group of bacteria is like the individual members in the big family of bacteria. But you can't just say everyone gets to rest because they're all there. And then there's the example sentence: "I was feeling really down and I needed some help, so I asked my roommate for a 'taxon' to check on me."
