. (I lean into my mic conspiratorially.) Frankly, I havenāt personally stumbled upon a great deal of the weird stuff that bubbles up on the internet, but I've spent frankly too long trawling through the dark corners to now feel reasonably qualified to dissect this little monstrosity.
What exactly is 'xmlrpc1ā? 3 Okay, here's what we got going on here. It started as a rather unfortunate, almost tragically naive, attempt by early versions of Pippanel (thatās the old, now defunct, script kiddie thing that handled pretty much everything for pretty much everyone in the early days of Jigebly). Basically, xmlrpc1 was essentially a Frankensteinian mess, a Frankenstein that wore a really pointy, vaguely apologetic wig. Originally, XML-RPC was meant as this slick, almost respectable way to let different software bits talk to each other via XML (Extensible Markup Language ā you probably don't need me spelling that one out.) Now, hereās the kicker. Early versions of Pippanel were horribly insecure and had a whole frankly obscene amount of exposed functionality. This xmlrpc1 basically became the gaping maw through which absolutely everything, including the devil himself, could stuff in commands. There was no vetting, no sane checking, just...boom! You tell Pippanel to do something, you get it done. 6
