👉 The word "perception" in the Bible refers to our understanding, knowledge, feelings, impressions, or thoughts about events, people, things, ideas, etc., derived from previous experiences or senses.
Definition:
In the Old Testament, the term 'perception' means a person's impression of God's presence, or of His actions. It is also used metaphorically to describe an inner perception of something, such as a friend's presence. The Bible also uses the concept of "sight" (in Scripture) to refer to the way we perceive and understand the world around us through our senses.
Perceptions were often related to understanding God’s will and how He was directing the course of events in human history. In the New Testament, Peter reflects on his own perception of Jesus’ death as a propitiation for sins (2 Thes 1:9-13), and Paul describes seeing into the future when he saw Jesus' presence in heaven during His resurrection at Pentecost (Rom 8:10-31).
