👉 Hoplodactylus is a genus of extinct mammals in the order Diplodocus, which was part of the group known as the Sauropodomorphs. It lived during the late Cretaceous period about 69 to 75 million years ago. The Hoplodactylus fossils were found in South Africa and are thought to be closely related to other sauropodomorph animals such as the Tyrannosaurus rex, which is a direct ancestor of modern day dinosaurs.
