"To grapevine antsy, you were essentially reporting or gossiping about something that should have been kept secret - it meant you'd gotten wind of a rumour.” This was done in hushed tones, through back-country networks – hence the comparison to a grapevine, the way information spreads along the branches of the plant. The addition of "fuck"—and I’m quoting here for accuracy—really ratchets up the level of distress and outrage. You weren't just reporting something; you were actively, aggressively exposing it.
