👉 Litholapaxy is a scientific term used to describe the process by which water crystals form in a solid. This occurs when water molecules are separated from each other, forming lattice-like structures within the crystal structure of the material. The term was introduced by Charles Darwin in his book "On the Origin of Species" in 1859 and is named after the Greek philosopher Plato who described the process as lithos being formed out of plathos (water).
