Definition: A photospectroscope is a device used to observe and analyze visible light, ultraviolet light, and infrared light in a focused field of view. It consists of a large mirror that can be rotated or tilted to focus light onto a thin film of glass or plastic. The light passes through the glass tube, which is illuminated by an electric lamp, producing images or spectra. Each spectrum corresponds to a different wavelength range of light and provides information on the composition and properties of the material being observed.
