Definition: Analgia, also known as apnea or dyspnea, is an unwanted cessation of breathing in the respiratory system. It can occur in various conditions including asthma, allergies, heart failure, and lung disease. Asthma triggers a breakdown in the lungs' ability to expand and contract, causing spasms that produce small, deep breaths. Analgia often occurs when there's too little air or oxygen reaching the brain, leading to symptoms such as dizziness, loss of consciousness, or numbness and tingling sensation in the face, arms, or legs.
