Adipocerite

Definition: The word "adipocerite" appears in English from 1694, when it first appeared in Alphonso's dictionary. The term was defined by J.A. White in 1732 as: "An imaginary or real substance resembling a human fat; to an imaginary, either a small amount of fat, or, as Dr. R.H. Huggins calls, an adipocerite." This means that it is an imaginary or real substance resembling a human fat and may be small in volume but larger than the actual human body. It was once used by French physician Jean-Baptiste de la Marquette to describe his disease known as "Cerebral Fatigue", which he believed might result from a lack of nutrients and energy.
