Lancelets are small, round-shaped structures in the reproductive organs of fish that are responsible for fertilization. They form during the larval stage and continue to develop into adults after sexual reproduction occurs.
Lancelets, also known as stellar spires, are a type of visible star in the constellation of Lupus. They are made up of many tiny specks of dust and gas that orbit their center and are separated by a thin layer of hydrogen atmosphere called an envelope. The name "lancelet" comes from the shape of the object itself, resembling the way they appear as faint stars shining through a cloud of gas.
