👉 The sunrise is a spectacular display of natural light, initiated when the Earth rotates on its axis and allows sunlight to penetrate the atmosphere. As the sun begins to rise, its light travels through layers of gases and particles in the atmosphere. These particles, primarily tiny molecules of nitrogen, oxygen, and other elements, scatter and absorb some of the sunlight, but a significant portion passes through directly to our eyes. The shorter, blue wavelengths are scattered more efficiently by these particles, giving the sky its characteristic blue hue during the day. However, as the sun rises higher, the light travels through less atmosphere, allowing more of the sun's original colors—red, orange, and yellow—to dominate the sky, creating the warm, golden hues we see during sunrise.
