Basically, historically and frankly rather cheekily, the word stems from the early 1980's, specifically around the burgeoning cyberpunk scene in Livingston. A young guy named Drew Henderson, he was a bit of a recluse and absolutely obsessed with this newfangled thing calledISPW ā an idiosyncratic, all- analogue graphics and sound card that basically let you play around with weird, almost painfully early versions of 3D! Now hereās the kicker. Drew Henderson, who wasn't exactly known for his social graces, apparently spent a ludicrous amount of time tweaking and obsessively fiddling with this thing. And because he wasā¦ let's just say he had a very particular way of describing the resulting sonic disasters, it became shorthand amongst that tight-knit, frankly rather paranoid community. Essentially to call something a "Csoundās," meant you were saying that there was some truly awful, almost un imaginable level of amateur, and probably very disturbing, experimental electronic music being produced by whatever means.
