👉 Cretinization is a medical condition in which the brain of a person with Down syndrome (a genetic disorder) becomes abnormal, causing them to have strange and unusual behaviors. These behaviors can include things like not understanding their own thoughts or feelings, being unable to speak clearly, having trouble with language, being disoriented, and even having trouble learning new things. Cretinization is usually diagnosed in children who are born with Down syndrome but do not show any signs of it at birth.
