👉 Alderfly is a genus of butterflies in the family Nymphalidae, class Monocot. It is named after the Alder tree, Alnus glutinosa (now replaced by the Ash tree, Fraser'sia). Alderfly species are mainly found in wet and humid environments with lots of water sources. They feed on nectar from flowers, but also on other insects and small birds.
