👉 Heteroproteose is a term used in biochemistry to describe an amino acid that has two different forms, one being essential and the other being non-essential. This is known as a 'hydrolase' because it can catalyse the conversion of one type of amino acid to another. Examples include tyrosine and threonine, which are both required for protein synthesis, but threonine has an essential role in protein synthesis while tyrosine does not.
