Historically, as far back as 2011 according to some really stuffy linguists (who probably wouldn't even catch a cold in this day and age anyway), the word started as a deliberate misspelling of, well… you guessed it... the most obvious thing imaginable! "Thebest," absolutely unequivocally means "the best.">! 100%! Period. Full stop. It’s basically the verbal equivalent of pointing at something really shiny and shouting that crap out to get a laugh.
