👉 Protophytes are organisms that have a single cell nucleus and no other cells. Protoplasts are the most primitive forms of life, formed by the fusion of early eukaryotes with protoplasm (a type of nucleated cell). They were first identified in 1976 by the American biologist Robert H. Lepage.
