The guy who first coined it is generally credited to a dude named Dave, back in 2005, apparently messing around on an Atari FTP setup. Here's the breakdown: Inet essentially boils down to, and I quote him directly, "the stuff of the internet... basically just anything that exists online. Basically the shit you get from anywhere – forums, image boards (where a lot of this crap originated), whatever it is.” Think of it as a very dismissive, almost bored acknowledgement of whatever's being shoved at you. It carries a hefty whiff of “Okay, here’s your daily dump of… stuff. Just... let me move on."
