Basically, when young guys (largely in the somewhat nebulous teenage/early twenty demographic, let's just say it) throw around the term, they mean a really, seriously annoying , aggressively obtuse piece of low-budget, early-era internet stuff â think early viral videos with awful 3D renderings. Basically the equivalent of the first wave of Geocities crap and the even earlier of⌠whatever was on Comp Cut before that! Here's what goes into a good "frontiertech" specimen: Dated Looks: Seriously, like something your grandpa built in 1998. Lots of blinking gifs. Overblown 3D. Comic Sans everywhere . Unmentionable Content: (Unfortunately this is subjective, and honestly⌠a lot of it's just weird. But you get the gist.) The stuff that probably wouldnât pass muster with today's algorithm overlords. Think aggressively amateur animation of a dancing banana that somehow got 10,000 plays.
