👉 Cladomyrma is a type of human birth defect that occurs when the cord, or maternal blood supply, fails during pregnancy, leading to the formation of a clot in the umbilical cord and causing an abnormal attachment. This can result in the death of the baby if the cord does not properly close by the time it reaches its destination. Cladomyrma affects approximately 1 in every 200,000 pregnancies.
