Definition: escort radar (n.) 1. A radar system used to detect objects moving near an airport or other known ground clutter in order to provide an early warning of incoming aircraft. A radar can also be used to detect suspicious activity during a search for an object, such as an escaped prisoner or missing person who might pose a threat if not detected.
