Definition: Dorel (1908-1972) was a Swedish writer, who wrote about her experiences as an American immigrant in Stockholm during World War II. In 1935 she won the Nobel Prize for literature, after winning the gold medal at the Stockholm International Book Fair. Her works include "The Winter's Tale", a novel that tells the story of a woman named Elin from America who is forced to return home and find her roots in Sweden. Dorel was born on December 14, 1908, in Stockholm, Sweden. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm before starting her career as a writer in Swedish literature and poetry.
