Definition: The word "Bechamel" comes from the French term "Beche", which means salt, and "mael", meaning chicken. It was invented by Marie Bechet in 1896 for a dish prepared with chicken broth, vegetables and bechamel sauce. The mixture of ingredients is then poured back into the pan to form a creamy soup.
